Dacoity attempt was foiled in Rourkela after Bondamunda police arrested six suspects, including notorious criminal Bittu Tanti, and seized a cache of weapons on Monday. Acting swiftly on intelligence, the police apprehended the gang before they could carry out their criminal plan.
The operation led to the recovery of four country-made pistols, one country-made revolver, 15 live rounds of ammunition, a sword, mobile phones, and other suspicious items from the accused. The mastermind, Bittu Tanti, already has over 34 criminal cases registered against him across multiple police stations, making him a significant threat to public safety.
Police confirmed that the suspects were intercepted during the planning stage of a dacoity, preventing what could have been a serious incident. The arrests are a major breakthrough in curbing organized crime in the region, particularly given the background of the individuals involved.
