Filmmaker SS Rajamouli has gone on a solo trek to Deomali, the highest peak of Odisha and has shared his experience on social media. At first, he was amazed by the beautiful view but when he turned around, he was let down by the amount of litter on the trail.
In his X (previously Twitter) post, Rajamouli shared a video collage of the summit view and the plastic bottles and garbage which were thrown around on the rocks. Last, he stood with his hands in the trekking attire, a green T-shirt, pants, and white sneakers. He expressed his frustration with the words “Had an amazing solo trek to Deomali, the highest and most stunning peak of Odisha, but was disappointed to see the way the trail was littered. Such stunning wonders demand more. A small amount of civic sense could make a big difference… Every visitor should bring their waste back from these places to help conserve them.”
This post was well received by the public and got a reply from Suparno Satpathy, an socio-political leader from Odisha. Sharing Rajamouli’s tweet, Satpathy wrote, “Sorry for the negative experience in the beautiful Deomali. To our ‘positions of power’: ‘Visitors should be made to understand the importance of not littering, and those who do should be fined heavily. This also applies to all other beautiful places in Odisha.”
In terms of work, Rajamouli is now preparing to launch his next big project, SSB29, which will star Priyanka Chopra and Mahesh Babu, while the script has been written by Vijayendra Prasad. His last directorial venture, RRR (2022), was a big hit and the film featured Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in the lead roles.
